Welcome to a primitive style supper! Cooked over an open fire. Cheesy potatoes and Elk pot roast. I just cut the taters up and cut up some onion, sprinkle some bacon over it and season salt. Cook till done then add the cheese. The roast, just add whatever veggies you want and cook away. Some lousy directions huh? They really just speak for themselves though. I enjoy cooking like this and it's really easier than one would think. I've made pineapple upside down cake and other great desserts dutchoven cooking. So glad you all stopped by. We'll be having some singing and poetry reading later on on the porch bout sundown. Come back again!!!

Aww you remembered that I love an open fire!
The mennonites near us sell Elk meat but I haven't ever cooked any wild game.
Thanks for joining the fun!
I love an open fire too and have really enjoyed your additions to the potluck. Thank you!
Oh, I would love to come over for a bite!
That all looks so good!
WOW I am amazed, you are good! I've been very interested in learning to cook this way over the past two years...maybe someday I'll actually get to try it...LOL!!

Oh My Goodness! Does this ever bring back memories for me. My mother used to cook this way for our immediate family, as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles on weekends when I was growing up. We had a camp in north Florida and spent our weekends there swimming, hunting, fishing, boating, and eating my mother's wonderful outdoor food. We didn't have Elk, however, but quail, rabbit, squirrel, and other wild game. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
OHHHH I've never had an open fire meal like this that didn't require a bbq pit and bbq sauce! This is wonderful... should we start a round of campfire songs?
Swing on over for some Hawaiian fun today too :)
An open fire sounds great. Its chilly today!

What a great feast you have prepared, it was all so delicious! I adore the potatoes - yummmmmmm! Thank you so much for inviting me, I have had a great time visiting at your potluck! :)
Mikki, wow, that is some meal you have cooking there. I would probably start a major fire like the one in Chicago years ago. But looks like you have it all under control. What a fun thing to do.
