RUSTY FENCE

Driving down a dirt road I look over at the edge of the ditch line and see a clump of wildflowers. The little things not knowing that they are in a lowly place, a ditchline of all places. They stand there, proudly displaying their bright lavendar attire. Never to share the stage with a famous rosebush, or even a hanging basket of petunias. It doesn't complain, it stands there proudly, amongst the crushed beer cans and faded McDonald's paper cup. It's backdrop an old rusty fence, not a two story capecod style home as the rosebush has. But still, it doesn't complain, it just continues to blossom. Bringing beauty wherever it can. Lord, wherever You place us, help us to blossom. And help us to do so without complaint

Reminds me of the story in Hannah Hurnards book Hind's Feet On High Places. If you aren't familiar with it it's a wonderful read. I like it so much I've re-read it three times.

Thanks for the mention of the book. I have heard of the book and actually saw it on the bookstand several times but I've never bought it. I will have to buy me a copy next time I see it, thanks so much.

Good Saturday Mikki, Cold here but not much wind, that makes it much nicer. Fed the birds, finished sewing a lavender sachet, couple loads of laundry. One of my Grand daughters came at about 6.30 this morning, expecting two more any minute. Going out to dinner tonight with all the kids at a frinds house. Richard is out working now, but will be back soon, then we will all have lunch. There now you pretty much know how my day is going.

What a neat picture! I loved your post, too. Wildflowers are my favorite-oh, I love roses, all flowers, but there is something so special about wildflowers. Maybe, because like you said, they bloom wherever they are planted, giving no thought to what is around them. I do try to find beauty in what ever circumstance that I am in. It is not always easy, but the Lord is always there to listen and help me get through whatever is going on! Have a great weekend, Mikki JO!

Hi Mikki, sure hope your feeling better, I was wondering where you were and missed your posts, thought you might be busy moving in to the cabin. I love the ditch plants, freebies from mother nature, and I love the way you describe them here, silent bloomers!

Mikki, I drove past a ditch filled with the most beautiful little red flowers the other day. I had never seen any like them. I sorta had the same thoughts about them as you but certainly not as poetic as your thoughts! I love the rusty fence picture. Thanks for sharing.
