AMISH EGGS

I took this picture awhile back. I love old signs like these. They just say "Welcome". My amish friend Fannie, that lives at this house just recently made me some dresses and aprons and a prayer kapp. She is also my penpal. She is teaching school this year and has asked me to come visit her school. I'm looking forward to visiting them. She has a six mile trip there and back, about a 40 minute drive, 80 round trip. Thats a long ways to drive one way. There have been men, which she calls "loafers", following the amish women around in their buggies and she's a little concerned but said not too scared, she said, "we have good horses". I guess she plans to outrun one. Hmmmmm. Needless to say I'm concerned for her. I took the kids a big bag of candy yesterday, she has several very young siblings. There are 12 kids altogher but most of them are grown now. This is the family that built our cabin. They are very dear friends. I've been thinking on what I will make them for Christmas, right now I don't have a clue. Sorry I've been missing in action for awhile. I've been sick and will be having tests run soon to see what the problem is. I'll be having a scope ran down my esophagus and into my stomach. Grrrrr, I don't like the sound of it.

I, too, like the old signs. Two places I drive by have eggs set out in coolers with the egg sign and a jug to put the money in. So much out in this little valley is on the honor system and I believe for the most part it works. Thank goodness. I've been thinking about you Mikki Jo and hope all goes well with the tests. MB

I love this post of yours about your Amish friend Fanny! How very sweet of her to make those things for you-a real treasure!
I will surely be praying that you will be feeling better soon, Mikki Jo! I know those test tend to get us out of our comfort zones and they understandably make us anxious. I pray the Lord gives you the peace and strenght needed to get through this and the wisdom to get to the bottom of your problem. You are in my thoughts and prayers-Love ya-Claudia O

hello-just wanted to come by and say hi. I haven't been to your neck of the woods in awhile! I wanted to tell you that my husband was voted yesterday unanimously to be the new pastor of a wonderful country church-Hilltop Chapel-about 6 miles out of town. Yea! We are so excited! I also wanted to tell you about the etsy store that me, my mother in law and sister in law have opened online. We have all sorts of hand crafted items-made by us-for sale and are posting new items all the time! Check it out and if you wouldn't care to spread the word to all of your blogger friends, we'd appreciate it! thanks and God bless!

I like handmade signs as well and do much of my shopping in the summer at homes with signs by the road. They also use the honor system with a box to put money in for the times they are gone.

Your neighborhood sounds much like mine. Most of my neighbors and many of my friends are also Amish.

I hope your upcoming tests go well and that you feel better soon.
