The dandelion is one of the most common and recognizable weeds. The official name for the dandelion is "Taraxacum officinale", which means "official remedy for disorders". There are many common names for dandelions, including priest's crown, Irish daisy, monk's head, telltime, blowball, and lion's tooth. http://www.pesticide.org/dandelions.html http://www.my-garden-supplies.com/garden_tips_folder/dandelions.htm I am adding another website that Mary beth told me about. It tells of medicinal uses and also that it's a registered drug in Canada, a diuretic I believe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dandelion

Hi Mikki. I really like the early dandelions. My friend calls them field daisys and I like that. they are the brightest and prettiest yellow and brighten up any field (or lawn).
Another friend made dandelion jelly and it was pretty and not bad. Anyway I am always for the underdog.. who named a weed a weed anyway? MB
Have you ever made dandelion salad? I have. Now that you jog my memory, I may have to post about it, lol!
Oh yes, post about it! I'm wanting to try some myself.
I always look for the dandelions in spring, and know how good they are for you, I had written a article on them years ago. I often take dandelion for many things, it helped my hubby shed some pounds a few years ago. A wonderful weed, but then aren't they all!
Great post, Mikki Jo. I've always loved to look at the little yellow flowers--which is a good thing since I have plenty of them! I'd like to hear about Tracys dandelion salad too--while they're still in bloom!
